What is the use of Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol is used for prevent pregnancy. It is a combination of two birth pills i.e. Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol. It works as avoidance of ovulation, altering the cervical mucus and changing the lining of the uterus. It is an oral contraceptive used to avoidance of pregnancy in women who elect this medicine as method contraception. Oral contraceptives are highly effective. When these pills are taken correctly without missing any pills, the chance of pregnancy goes down to approximately 1% per year. The chance of pregnancy increase with each pill pissed during the menstrual cycle. Average failure rates approximately 5% per year for those women who missed the pills.
Before Taking Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
Consult to your doctor before taking or while taking Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol. You should not take pill if you have any of these conditions:
Allergic to any ingredient in Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol.
heart attack or stroke ever had
blood clots in the legs (thrombophlebitis), lungs (pulmonaryembolism), or eyes ever had
blood clots in the deep veins of your legs ever had
acknowledged or supposed breast cancer or cancer of the lining of the uterus, cervix, or vagina or positive hormonally-sensitive cancers
Liver tumor (benign or cancerous)
Chest pain (angina pectoris)
Unexplained vaginal bleeding (until a diagnosis is reached by your health-care professional)
Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or of the skin (jaundice) during pregnancy or during previous consumption of the pill
Known or suspected pregnancy
Heart valve or heartbeat disorders that may be associated with formation of blood clots
Diabetes affecting your circulation
Headaches with neurological symptoms
Uncontrolled high blood pressure
Active liver disease with abnormal liver function tests
Allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the components of Lo/Ovral

How should take Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
Always consult to your doctor to take Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol and take as given by your doctor. Follow the prescription on your pill's label. Some important points should keep in mind when taking Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol:
Take Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estrediol by mouth with or without food. If having stomachache, then take it with food to reduce stomach irritation
Do not take in larger or less amount or longer than recommended.
Take your pill on the first day of your period, or on the first Sunday after your period begins.
You may need to use back-up birth control, like condom or spermicide, when you start using Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Take single pill every day at same time, as per interval of 24 hours.
When the pills run out, start a new pack followed by your last pack on same schedule.
You may get pregnant if you miss your pills or do not take pills daily.
The Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estrediol pack contains seven "reminder" pills to keep you on your regular cycle. Your period will usually begin while you are using these reminder pills.
You may have penetrated bleeding, especially during first 3 months, if you have heavy or continuous bleeding, contact to your doctor.
Always use a back-up birth control, if you are sick with brutal vomiting or diarrhea.
If you need a surgery or any medical test, your dosage may need to stop or you should be on bed rest. Consult to your doctor or surgeon who treats you about this medicine usage.
While taking Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol, you need your regular check-up. Visit you doctor regular.
Bleeding or spotting may occur while taking Norgestrel/Ethynil Estradiol, do not stop taking Norgestrel/Ethynil Estradiol if this occurs.
If you wear contact lens and develop any problem with them, contact to your doctor.
Norgestrel/Ethynil Estradiol is not recommended for the children who have not had their first menstrual periods.
What happens if missing a dose of Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
What happens if I miss a dose: Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand the instruction mentioned on the label. Missing a pill can increase your chance to get pregnant. If you miss your pill, take two pills on the next day. Then take one pill per day for the rest of the pack. If you miss two active pills in a row in week 3, throw out the rest of the pack and start a new pack the same day if you are a day 1 starter. If you are a Sunday starter, keep taking a pill every day until Sunday. On Sunday, throw, throw out the rst of the pack and start a new pack that day.

Call your emergency medical facility. Overdose symptoms may include:
vaginal bleeding

Do not smoke while taking Norgestrel/Ethyniol Estradiol. Smoking can increase your risk of:
blood clots
Heart stroke
Heart Attack These risk can caused if you smoke and especially if you are older than 35. Birth control pills will not protect you from sexually transmitted disease including HIV and AIDS. Using a condom is the only way to protect you from these diseases.
What are the side effects of Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
Contact your doctor or emergency medical facility if you have any these allergic effects:
difficulty in breathing
swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat Stop taking medicine if any of these serious side effects occur:
unexpected lack of sensation or weakness, especially on one side of the body
unexpected and harsh annoyance, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance
chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, sickness, sweating, general ill feeling
unexpected cough, breathless, rapid breathing, coughing up blood
pain, swelling, warmth, or redness in one or both legs
a change in the symptoms or harshness of migraine headaches
sickness, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of hunger, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
a breast lump
Symptoms of depression (sleep problems, weakness, tired feeling, and mood changes). Less serious Norgestrel/Ethyniol Estradiol side effects may include:
gentle sickness (especially when you first start taking this medicine), vomiting, bloating, stomach cramps
breast tenderness or swelling, nipple discharge
freckles or darkening of facial skin, increased hair growth, loss of scalp hair
changes in weight or appetite
problems with contact lenses
vaginal itching or discharge
Changes in your menstrual periods, decreased sex drive.
Other drugs affecting when take Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol
There are some drugs which may less effective this medicine and cause of pregnancy. Before using Norgestrel/Ethyniol Estradiol, consult to your doctor if you are using any of these following drugs:
an antibiotic or tuberculosis medication
drugs for treatment of hepatitis C, HIV, or AIDS
phenobarbital and other barbiturates
St. John's wort
Convulsion medications.
acetaminophen or ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
